ABOUT ME

Hi y’all! I’m Claire Kagan: a Birth Doula, Hypnodoula, Ayurvedic postpartum doula, Childbirth Educator, and Yoga Teacher with a background in Social Work (LMSW) and a holistic mindset around health, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I’m based in Boulder, Colorado, and I serve families in the Denver and Boulder areas, and virtually.

As a birth doula: I always say that I like to think of a doula as a birth-focused social worker! I bring in my background as an Licensed Master of Social Work, DONA-Certified Doula, and Hynobabies Certified Hypno-Doula to provide education around the birth process, empower you to be your own self-advocate, and work with you to make sure that all of your needs are met and your wishes are honored, before, during, and after birth. I’ll create an ambiance that keeps you comfortable during labor with candles, lighting, music, essential oils, massage, breath, meditation, and movement. I’ll stay by your side throughout labor, reminding you how amazing and powerful you are, and helping you work with your body to bring your baby earth side. No matter what kind of birth you envision, I’ll support you every single step of the way, ensuring that you always feel safe, seen, held, and loved. I also offer virtual doula support, which you can learn more about here.

As a Childbirth Educator: I strongly believe that all birthing people deserve to pursue the birth they desire. A large component of that includes having the tools and knowledge to decide what works for you, and to communicate your hopes, fears, needs, and boundaries with your care team. As an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor, I will walk alongside you as you explore your options, present you with unbiased information about a myriad of topics related to your birth, and connect you with the appropriate resources to support your goals. Group classes are available – you can sign up here. If you’d prefer a more intimate, individualized experience that works with your schedule, private courses are also available here.

As an Ayurvedic postpartum doula: The principles of Ayurveda state that the first 42 days after birth determine a birthing person’s health outcomes for the next 42 years! With this in mind, I provide 6-8 weeks of holistic, Ayurvedic, full-body support for you after birth. This includes full meal support, herbal supplements, massage for you and baby, belly binding, herbal baths, and working with you to build a sustainable routine that prioritizes the rest you need and deserve! Being well-nourished, rested, and cared for improves your physical and mental health postpartum. I’ll take care of you, so that you have the energy and resources to take care of your new baby! I also offer standard Western postpartum support (laundry, groceries, cooking for the rest of the family, childcare, etc.) at an additional hourly rate.

As a yoga teacher: I’m an RYT-500 with specialized training in Ayurveda, Prenatal Yoga, and Trauma-Informed Yoga. Due to my social work background, I’m mindful of the intersection between mental health and movement, and I always strive to make my class offerings trauma-informed, inclusive, Health at Every Size-informed, and accessible to all. Know that your body and mind are in good hands when we’re practicing together. I create well-rounded and thoughtful classes with intelligent sequencing, intentional and optional hands-on assists, and anatomy-forward cues so that you can leave your mat feeling stretched, strong, and energized! I’m available to book for private 1:1 sessions here.

I always customize my services to fit your family’s needs, so we can work together to build any combination of the services I offer. I’m so excited to support you throughout this journey!
